Studio Policies
1. The Movement Suite is an inclusive space with a zero-tolerance policy for harassment, assault, bigotry, racism, or sexism. You are expected to respect pronouns and refrain from hate speech or intolerant actions both within the studio and outside of the studio. If you demonstrate any of the above mentioned, you may be asked to leave the studio and you will not receive a refund.
2. Class Registrations - You must contact your instructor directly to confirm availability before registering, and class registrations are not considered final until a payment is made.
3. All class payments are non-refundable and non-transferable. However, community care is important to us, and we will absolutely refund or provide credit for classes missed due to illness. Class credits/refunds will also be given in the event your instructor has to cancel or reschedule a class.
4. It is important you arrive on time. We recommend aiming for at least 5 minutes prior to class start time. For the security, safety, and consideration of each of you, we lock our front door at class time. If you arrive late, it is not guaranteed you will be let in for class, and in this event, you will not be offered a class credit or refund. Pretty please be respectful of this and do not knock on the door or call the studio to try to get in after class starts.
5. In order to book the studio for a private lesson, workshop, party, or other personal event, please EMAIL US first to confirm availability. Once a date is settled, payment is due AT THE TIME OF BOOKING, and is non-refundable. If you have to cancel your slot, we need at least 72 hours minimum in order to hold your credit for a reschedule. Credits expire 3 months from the cancelled date. If you cancel your spot with less than 72 hours notice, no refunds or credits will be given.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I register for a class?
You will register for each class directly through the instructor of that class. This is most often done via email but some of our instructors will also accept social media messaging. Each instructor sets the pricing for their own classes and private lessons, and has different preferences for collecting payments.

Why don’t you offer class packages or membership options?
We choose to be set up this way for two reasons.
First, because it creates the best possible class experience for students. The movement styles we offer at the studio are highly specialized approaches and it requires time to start feeling creative freedom and physical progress. Investing multiple weeks in a session allows us to build slowly and results in the best outcome for students.
Secondly, this format ensures that our artists and teachers are paid a fair rate for their time and expertise. Our instructors are all independent contractors, not employees of The Movement Suite. This also means that there isn’t a feasible way to spread packages or membership across instructors.
Why are your instructors independent contractors?
Our studio is built on the fundamental principle of community, and this enables all of our instructors to contribute in a way that helps us avoid burnout. We are each responsible for our own class content, marketing, and registrations, which enables us to share the workload of administrative work while maintaining our own sense of creative freedom. This is great for helping us stay inspired and passionate about what it is we are teaching!
This model also strives to create a higher pay rate for our instructors, many of whom are full-time gig workers, teachers, and performers. This structure helps ensure our instructors are paid well enough to support themselves.
Do you offer payment plans and/or sponsorship opportunities?
Yes! We strive to make our space as accessible as possible, which includes financial assistance! Most of our instructors offer payment plans for classes, AND we have a studio sponsorship fund in which members of our studio/community can donate money in order to help fund full or partial payments for other students. Are finances the only thing holding you back? Email your instructor and ask about your options! Do you want to donate to our sponsorship fund? Email contact@themovementwitch.com to set it up!
What other ways do you support the community?
In addition to our financial sponsorship program, we maintain a well-stocked harm reduction supply stash in our bathroom. Items include free menstrual products, contraceptives, pregnancy tests, morning after pills, KN95 masks, covid tests, fentanyl test kits, narcan, and more. Please help yourself while at the studio, no questions asked. Do you have harm reduction supplies you’d like to donate to our space? Email contact@themovementwitch.com to set it up!
Can I attend class if I am younger than 18?
Unfortunately, no. Our classes are designed to be a space for adults to give back to themselves. However, some of our instructors will take on private clients with a parent or guardian's approval.
Will I have to share a pole/lyra/apparatus?
Yes, it is common and fairly important (in our opinion!) you will share your apparatus with another student. Sharing is great for several reasons, including - a built in rest period which is crucial for safe training practices, deepening connections and friendships in class, and learning how to witness / be witnessed in turns. We cap at two per apparatus, so you will never have more than one movement buddy, and sometimes, you may not have an apparatus buddy at all.
Is there a weight limit?
While there is no specific weight limit due to the professional grade rigging and equipment we have (all of our studio poles are permanently mounted and we have various sizes of lyra, including some that are rated for doubles use available for you to try) if you have concerns or specific questions about whether or not a class is suitable for you please email your instructor to discuss.
What is your photo / video policy?
There are no photos or videos allowed without fully informed consent from everyone present. At the end of most classes, your instructor will announce time for you to take video and/or photos, but it is required that anyone who is visible in your frame is aware and has given informed consent (meaning, they know what you plan to do with the video/photo) to be in your shot. In the event we have a client who has a hard boundary or need for NO photos and videos, we honor this as a class. Please refrain from taking photos or videos in class until the designated time. This is an important privacy and safety matter that we take very seriously here, and we appreciate your cooperation with this in advance!
Is your studio open to all genders?
Yes. All genders, bodies, and skill levels are celebrated here.
Is your studio LGBQTIA+ friendly?
Absolutely yes. A large portion of our community is LGBQTIA+, and we are owned and operated by a queer witch.
